Union Minister Reviews PM MITRA Park Progress in Surat
Planned on 1,141 acres in Vansi Borsi, Jalalpore taluka of Navsari district, PM MITRA Park will be a cornerstone for Gujarat’s textile industry
Surat : Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh chaired a review meeting at the Surat Circuit House to assess the progress of the ambitious PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Gujarat. Officials from the central and state governments provided updates on the park’s development, focusing on infrastructure, utilities, and facilities essential for its operation.
Focus on Infrastructure Development
The meeting highlighted ongoing efforts related to land leveling, water and electricity supply, construction of a common effluent channel, sewage treatment plants, boiler steam provisions, and plug-and-play facilities. Minister Singh emphasized the importance of maintaining steady progress and directed officials to submit progress reports every 15 days to ensure the project stays on track.
He stated, “Surat is the textile hub of India, with a global reputation in the industry. It employs lakhs of people and contributes significantly to the economy. The central government aims to increase the turnover of the textile sector to $350 billion by 2030.”

Planned on 1,141 acres in Vansi Borsi, Jalalpore taluka of Navsari district, PM MITRA Park will be a cornerstone for Gujarat’s textile industry. The park is designed to integrate the textile value chain, offering facilities for spinning, weaving, processing, dyeing, printing, and garment manufacturing under one umbrella.
The initiative is expected to generate extensive employment opportunities across Gujarat, particularly in South Gujarat, while boosting India’s global competitiveness in the textile sector.
Commitment to Expedited Development
Minister Singh assured officials of the central government’s support in overcoming any hurdles and fulfilling the park’s infrastructural needs. He reiterated that the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of expediting the development of mega textile parks across India.
Presentation on Current Progress
During the meeting, Joint MD of GIDC, Surabhi Gautam, presented a detailed report via a PowerPoint presentation. The update included milestones achieved in land leveling, water and electricity provisioning, and road connectivity.
The meeting was attended by prominent officials, including Surat Mayir Daxesh Mavani, Deputy Mayor Dr. Narendra Patil, Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel, State Industries Commissioner Sandeep Sagal, and Officials from GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation).
