Surat’s Bhavya Jaiswal records twin wins on day one of Rotomag 3rd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis tournament.

ANAND: Bhavya Jaiswal, a young player from the diamond city of Surat, hogged the limelight with two consecutive wins on day one of the four-day-long Rotomag, the 3rd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament-2021 being organized by the Anand District Table Tennis Association (ADTTA) under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) starting from October 14.

At the spacious Yugpurush Vivekanand Sports Complex in Bakrol in Anand, Bhavya, who is ranked seventh in the state, edged out Bhavnagar’s Sonal Joshi by 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 in Women’s opening round.

Bhavya looked in great touch as she had also recorded a convincing 11-2, 11-3, 11-6 win over Bhavnagar’s Bhoomi Bambhaniya in the Junior Girls’ (U-19) opening round.

Meanwhile, in other women’s round one matches of the tournament, title sponsored by Rotomag Motors Private Limited and co-sponsored by Vidya Wires Private Limited, Atlanta Electricals Limited, Charotar Gas Sahkari Mandali Limited, and Milcent Appliances Private Limited, Ahmedabad’s Shiney Gomes breezed past Surat’s Heta Naik with 11-0, 11-2, 11-7 while Bhavnagar’s Riya Jayswal, who is ranked 10th in the state, edged out Ahmedabad’s Niyati Patel 11-3, 11-8, 11-1.

Baroda’s Purva Nimbalkar defeated Ahmedabad’s Zena Solanki 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 while Surat’s Mili Tanna, who is joint second in the Junior Girls’ (U-17) category, defeated Anand’s Bindu Bhaija 11-5, 11-2, 11-3.

In the Junior Girls’ (U-19) category, Bhavnagar’s Khushi Jadav came from a game down to beat rising star Pratha Pawar of Ahmedabad 11-13, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7.

Member of Parliament Miteshbhai Patel, in the presence of guest of honor Umesh Balani, CMD Rotomag Motors Private Limited, and other dignitaries including SS Rathi, MD, Vidya Wires,  Kiranbhai Patel, MD, CGSM Limited, and Harshad Mehta, MD, Atlanta Electricals Limited, inaugurated the tournament earlier in the day.

Speaking on the occasion, MP  Miteshbhai Patel said, “When our PM Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he laid the foundation for the promotion of sports through the ambitious Khel Mahakumbh. Now, under his leadership, sports is being promoted across the country and our sportsmen are showing impressive results in international tournaments.”

“It is heartening to see more than 400 entries, including some national and international level players, for the tournament here in Anand,” Patel added.

Meanwhile, ADTTA president and organizing chairman Kantibhai Bhuva said, “We are honored to have the presence of Miteshbhai Patel, MP from Anand. We are also thankful for our sponsors who have come forward and decided to support sports in the state. The 420+ entries for the tournament speaks volume about the popularity of the game, and sports as a whole, in the state. We hope to have a successful tournament and I wish all the players the very best for their matches.”
