SURAT, GUJARAT : A speeding car on the Ring Road near Dukhiya Darbar in Mota Varachha caused a sad accident early Saturday, killing two individuals, including a six-year-old kid, and wounding four others, one of whom was pregnant. At before 2 a.m., Jignesh Amrutlal Gohil, 40, lost control of his Honda City and hit six individuals.

Six-year-old Viyan Vaghani and his uncle Sanket Vavadiya, 29, perished on the scene, while four others, including a pregnant mother, were seriously injured.

Jignesh Amritlal Gohil, 40, was detained by Surat police. He works as a tailor and lives at Star Galaxy on Chaprabhata Road in Variav.

AD Mahant, the police inspector of Utran police station, stated, “We have apprehended the accused Jignesh Gohil. During the primary interrogation, Gohil stated that he was returning from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital after visiting a cousin who was admitted there for cancer treatment. Meanwhile, he was driving his Honda City automobile on the Ring Road in Mota Varachha when abruptly he lost control of the wheels and hit the pedestrians and those on the motorcycle.

Police have filed a case against Gohil. The accused performed a breathalyzer test to determine whether he was driving while intoxicated. However, the authorities determined that the accused was not inebriated.

Ajay Miani, who survived the accident, mentioned that one of our sisters had arrived from the village, so we all went for a walk along the Ring Road. On Sunday, we were all meant to go to our original village. While we were sitting on the Ring Road, a car rammed into us at a speed of 100 km/h.  I didn’t dare to look at the accident and ended up asleep on the ground.  I’ve been injured in one leg, one breast, and one arm. A fracture seems to have occurred. My nephew and brother-in-law died at the scene.
