Surat : The Surat police have launched an investigation into a deeply concerning case involving allegations of “love jihad,” where a Muslim youth is purportedly receiving financial incentives to ensnare a Hindu girl in a romantic relationship and subsequently coerce her into converting to Islam after marriage. This distressing incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, has raised significant questions about the safety of vulnerable individuals.

The narrative of this distressing saga began in 2018 when a minor girl from Surat’s Pandesara area was allegedly lured into a romantic relationship by a young man who initially introduced himself as Karan. After a swift courtship, the victim married the individual and was later transported to New Delhi, where she gave birth to a child. Tragically, her life took a darker turn when she was subsequently relocated to Uttar Pradesh, where she claims she was subjected to repeated instances of molestation by the accused.

During her traumatic ordeal, the victim states that she was coerced into adopting Islamic customs, including wearing a veil. It was during this distressing period that she discovered the true identity of the individual responsible for her suffering. The accused, identified as Rizwan Shaikh, allegedly had a history of luring Hindu girls into romantic relationships with the ultimate objective of converting them to Islam.

Upon confronting Rizwan, the victim alleges she was told that he received financial compensation for enticing Hindu girls into relationships and influencing them to convert to Islam. This purportedly served as a means of advancing the Muslim faith by marrying Hindu girls and changing their religious beliefs.

The Surat police have initiated a comprehensive investigation to trace the source of funding behind these activities. Authorities are investigating the possibility of a well-organized conspiracy aimed at orchestrating conversions under the guise of “love jihad.”

Remarkably, the brave survivor managed to escape from the clutches of Rizwan Shaikh and returned to Surat, where she filed a formal complaint with the Pandesara police. She has accused Rizwan Shaikh of rape and forcibly converting her to Islam against her will.

In response to the complaint, the police have registered a case against Rizwan Shaikh, and investigations are currently underway to collect evidence and ascertain the full extent of the alleged crimes.
