SURAT, GUJARAT : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has partnered with the Saurashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bhavnagar in a major step meant to promote industrial and commercial relations. The partnership, which is run under the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 umbrella, aims to promote commercial contacts and mutual cooperation between South Gujarat and Bhavnagar businesspeople.

On Friday in Surat, SGCCI president Ramesh Vaghasia and Saurashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Dilip Kamani signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) formalising this partnership. Industrialists from South Gujarat, including Surat, would collaborate industrially and commercially with peers connected to the Saurashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding.

SGCCI president Ramesh Vaghasia underlined the importance of this partnership and said that it would open the door for the growth of strong commercial ties. Organised industrial visits will provide industrialist members from both chambers the chance to learn about each other’s industry. Moreover, both chambers have promised to help one another out to promote these exchanges.

The President of Saurashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry was among the delegation that Vaghasia informed on the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 project during the signing ceremony. He emphasised the project’s goal of supporting the Indian economy by enabling exports from Surat, Gujarat, and India overall of Rs 84,000 crores. The efforts being made as part of Mission 84 to meet this ambitious export target were explained in detail.

SGCCI invited businesspeople engaged in the food processing sector of Bhavnagar and cold storage exporters to take part in the Chamber of Commerce’s Food and Beverages Expo as part of the partnership. They further asked Bhavnagar’s different industries to take part in industrial exhibits in order to provide more exposure and networking chances.

President of the Saurashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dilip Kamani discussed Bhavnagar’s industrial environment and its importance as a centre for several industries. He brought out Bhavnagar’s unique position as the site of the biggest container manufacturing facility in India and a hub for the production of drilling equipment. Among the prosperous industries in the city are those of sheep breaking, chemicals, steel, plastics, and premium rubber for the defence industry.

Kamani also highlighted the agricultural strength of Bhavnagar, especially in the Mahuva and Talaja regions, which are well-known for growing and processing agricultural commodities including onions, garlic, and peanuts. Especially, these regions are essential to the extensive dehydration and export of potatoes, onions, and garlic. With the Mission 84 project integrating Bhavnagar’s food processing sector, Kamani voiced optimism about the sector’s potential for maximum advantages.

Assuring the Chamber of Commerce that Bhavnagar is prepared to actively contribute to economic progress and prosperity, Kamani confirmed their willingness to attend industry shows and the Food & Beverages Expo in Surat.
