AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT : The investigation into the apprehension of four ISIS-related terrorists at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport (SVPI) has taken a startling turn, revealing intricate connections spanning borders. Gujarat ATS, leading the probe, has intensified efforts, joined by Tamil Nadu ATS and Sri Lanka Police, in an unprecedented collaborative effort to uncover the depths of this network.

In a major anti-terror operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested four suspected ISIS terrorists at Ahmedabad Airport on Monday. Originally from Sri Lanka, these individuals were allegedly operating under orders from a Pakistani handler. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, with police uncovering critical details during interrogation.

In a meticulously executed operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) apprehended four suspected ISIS terrorists at Ahmedabad Airport. The suspects, all Sri Lankan nationals, were intercepted based on a specific tip-off, leading to their immediate detention and subsequent interrogation.

During the investigation in Sri Lanka, disturbing revelations emerged, shedding light on the criminal history of one of the arrested terrorists, Mohammad Nafran. Nafran’s father, Nias Naufar, stands accused of a heinous crime – the murder of High Court judge Sarath Ambepitiya in Sri Lanka. In 2004, Naufar was convicted and sentenced to death for this grievous offense.

Further compounding the gravity of the situation, Naufar faced subsequent arrest by Sri Lanka Police in 2017 under the Gem and Jewelry Act. Known colloquially as “Potatta Naufar,” Naufar holds sway as a prominent figure within the Sri Lankan underworld.

In a parallel development, sources reveal that a 44-year-old individual named Esam is currently under detention by Sri Lanka’s Terrorism Investigation Department (TID). It is alleged that Esam played a pivotal role in facilitating the travel arrangements of the four terrorists apprehended in Ahmedabad. Sources suggest that the tickets used by the terrorists were booked through Esam, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation.
