Surat : Major Fire Erupts at Millennium-2 Textile Market in Bhatena

Surat : A massive fire broke out in a textile shop located on the fourth floor of the Millennium-2 Textile Market in Bhatena, Surat sending plumes of black smoke billowing into the air. The fire, which was visible from a considerable distance, led to chaos on Ring Road as onlookers observed the alarming scene.

Shop owners on the entire fourth floor swiftly evacuated their premises, shutting down their shops as the blaze rapidly engulfed the textile shop. The intensity of the fire prompted the deployment of eight to 10 fire brigade vehicles to the scene, where firefighters worked diligently to control the inferno.

The Surat Municipal Corporation’s Fire and Emergency Department reported that all individuals stuck on the fourth floor were successfully evacuated. Using a fire hydraulic crane, foam was sprayed on the affected textile shop to contain the flames. The firefighting efforts persisted for nearly two hours, with no reported injuries or casualties.

Preliminary investigations point to a short circuit as the cause of the fire, which then rapidly spread through the fabric within the textile shop. The incident occurred during Diwali, a festive time when the market was bustling with a large number of people. Upon the outbreak of the fire, panic ensued, resulting in a stampede.

Fire brigade officials noted that a swift response was initiated upon receiving the fire call. Due to the scale of the fire, vehicles from multiple fire stations were summoned to the location. Hydraulics were employed to douse the flames, with ongoing efforts to fully extinguish the fire and prevent any potential resurgence.

As of the initial stages of the incident, there have been no reported injuries or fatalities. The coordinated and rapid response from the fire brigade and emergency services played a crucial role in averting a more severe outcome.
