Surat Drone Startup Makes a Historic Deal to Supply Drones to UAV Dynamics

SURAT, GUJARAT : In a major development for India’s defense sector, an Israeli company has signed a deal to purchase a lethal drone named “Kamikaze”, which are part of a tranche of weapons, from Inside FPV, the Surat-based startup. This marks a significant achievement for the city, often known as the ‘diamond city’, and highlights India’s growing prowess in defense technology.

In 2020, Arth Chowdhary, Deyvant Bhardwaj and Oshi Kumari founded insideFPV.

The drone start-up based in Surat manufactures a “plug-and-fly” unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which is far easier to use than its competitors.

It also sells drones and parts used to make them online.

Israeli Company Inks MoU with Surat Startup for Drone Supply

UAV Dynamics, a leading Israeli defense contractor known for its advanced drones and the Iron Dome missile system, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Surat’s Inside FPV. The agreement entails the supply of around 100 Kamakazi drones to Israel over a 5-6 year period. This collaboration signifies a crucial step forward for India’s defense industry, with its technology being adopted by a nation renowned for its sophisticated military equipment.

Deadly Precision: The Capabilities of the Kamakazi Drone

The Kamikaze drone boasts an impressive array of features that make it a valuable asset for defense and security purposes. Its compact size and lightweight design allow it to carry explosives like grenades and even granite for targeted attacks. With a remarkable speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the drone can deliver its payload and return swiftly, minimizing its exposure and maximizing its effectiveness. Additionally, it can be operated remotely from a distance of 10 to 12 kilometers, ensuring operator safety. The versatility of the Kamikaze drone extends beyond offensive capabilities, as it can also be employed for surveillance, reconnaissance, and inspection tasks.

The decision by a prominent Israeli company to acquire Indian-made drones underscores the significant strides India has made in the defense sector.  “India did not have this technology till now, but now we are developing it,” stated Arth Chaudhary, Founder of Inside FPV to Divya Bhaskar. “India is becoming self-sufficient in the defense sector. We will save the lives of our soldiers. We will provide many other technologies in 5 years.”  Chaudhary’s remarks highlight the potential of Indian defense startups to develop innovative solutions and contribute to national security. The recent MoU with UAV Dynamics serves as a testament to this growing potential and paves the way for further advancements in the years to come.
