RLC Warriors Crowned Champions at Indian Healthcare League, Marking a New Chapter for Doctors’ Cricket in India

New Delhi [India], January 7: Following the tournament’s conclusion at Nathdwara, Rajasthan, RLC Warriors were proclaimed champions during the maiden season of the Indian Healthcare competition (IHL), India’s first professionally organized T20 cricket competition solely for doctors.

Led by Dr. Rahul Mangal, RLC Warriors emerged on top after an eight-day competition that featured 18 T20 matches played between six state-based franchise teams representing Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The league brought together 108 doctors from across India, competing in a nationally governed, broadcast-ready format for the first time.

The victory symbolised the larger shift that IHL represents for doctors’ cricket in India—moving from scattered, unorganised tournaments to a professionally managed league ecosystem combining competition, fitness, mental well-being and social responsibility.

Reflecting on the win, Dr. Rahul Mangal, Captain, RLC Warriors and Founder, Indian Healthcare League, said, “Winning the inaugural season is deeply meaningful because it represents more than a trophy. IHL has given doctors a stage to compete as athletes while continuing to serve society. Leading the team while building the league was challenging, but seeing doctors perform on a national broadcast platform made it truly rewarding.”

Mrs. Sejal Mehta, Director, Whitecoat Sports and BCCI Scorer, highlighted the importance of inclusivity in sport, stating that “IHL is committed to creating equal opportunities across formats, ensuring that sport becomes a platform for leadership, confidence and representation within the healthcare community.”

Commenting on the league’s vision and execution, Mr. Nishant Mehta, CEO, Indian Healthcare League, said,  “Our aim was to achieve a credible, professional ecosystem for doctors’ cricket. Our focus was to create a league with strong governance, national visibility and real purpose, and Season 1 has validated that vision.”

The league was inaugurated in the presence of Ajay Hooda and Vindu Dara Singh. All matches were broadcast live across DD Sports, Waves OTT and Prasar Bharati’s digital platforms, delivering over 3,780 minutes of national coverage, bringing unprecedented visibility to doctors’ cricket in India. The last day of the season featured women healthcare professionals from across the nation. Bringing empowerment and leveling the playing ground for all healthcare professionals, India’s first professionally structured doctors league challenged conventional expectations and reinforced how sport can strengthen confidence, teamwork and determination.

With its first champions crowned, the Indian Healthcare League will now focus on national expansion, including additional franchises, structured state-wise player trials, transparent auctions, and future formats such as women’s and junior healthcare leagues.
