Indian rapper and singer Santy Sharma has sparked fresh online debate after sharing a strong statement on social media regarding the rapidly growing “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP) trend that has taken over Instagram and political discussions across India.

The rapper expressed concern over what he described as “blind trend-following” among internet users and questioned the intentions behind the viral movement. Santy Sharma’s statement comes at a time when the satirical online collective CJP has become one of the most discussed topics in the country, crossing millions of followers on social media within days.

In his statement, Santy Sharma claimed that the movement appears to be more like “internet drama” rather than a serious effort to solve India’s actual problems. He also alleged that the founder of the movement had earlier associations with political circles and had previously shared posts critical of India.

The rapper further stated that while no political party is perfect, creating unnecessary outrage and encouraging emotionally charged protests among Gen Z youth could negatively impact national stability. He also mentioned concerns regarding foreign engagement on social media pages linked to the movement and urged authorities to monitor such activities carefully.

His remarks quickly gained attention online, dividing social media users into two camps. One side supported his concerns about digital influence, online propaganda, and political manipulation, while the other accused him of dismissing genuine frustrations of unemployed and dissatisfied youth.

The “Cockroach Janta Party” phenomenon itself emerged after controversial remarks linked to Chief Justice Surya Kant triggered outrage among sections of Indian youth. The movement, founded by Abhijeet Dipke, describes itself as a satirical platform highlighting issues such as unemployment, inflation, education pressure, and media freedom through memes and internet activism.

Reports suggest the movement rapidly crossed over 15 million followers on Instagram, even surpassing the social media following of major Indian political parties.

Political reactions around the movement have also intensified. BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar recently described the trend as part of a possible “cross-border influence operation” aimed at destabilising India, while opposition leaders such as Shashi Tharoor argued that the rise of CJP reflects genuine frustration among the youth.

Meanwhile, online discussions across Reddit and other social platforms continue to remain sharply divided. Some users believe the movement reflects real anger over unemployment and governance issues, while others claim it is driven by online propaganda, bot amplification, and anti-establishment narratives.

Santy Sharma is no stranger to controversial public commentary. Earlier this year, the rapper made headlines after supporting singer Badshah during the “Tateeree” song controversy and also drew online reactions for his comments on influencer culture and social media responsibility.

As the debate around CJP continues to grow, Santy Sharma’s statement has added another celebrity voice to the already heated national conversation surrounding youth politics, internet influence, and freedom of expression in India.
