NTPC Kawas Launches Girl Empowerment Mission 2025

NTPC Kawas starts GEM 2025, a 4-week residential CSR workshop empowering 40 rural girls with academics, life skills, and holistic development.

Surat, Gujarat – NTPC Kawas inaugurated the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 on May 12, 2025. Organised under NTPC Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, this four-week residential workshop will benefit 40 girls who have recently completed Class 5 from government schools in the villages of Mora, Damka, Junagam, Rajgiri, Bhatlai, and Kawas.

This initiative at NTPC Kawas was launched under the leadership of Suresh John David, Head of Project, NTPC Kawas, with the objective of empowering school-going girls through holistic development and experiential learning. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Smt. Shanija M. George, President, Swati Mahila Mandal, as the Guest of Honour.

While addressing the gathering, Suresh John David encouraged the participants to make the most of this opportunity for self-development and learning. He appreciated their enthusiasm and motivated them to move forward with confidence.

Shanija M. George spoke about the long-term impact of the initiative and commended the efforts of parents for supporting their daughters’ education. She assured that GEM 2025 would serve as a transformative experience, positively shaping the participants’ education and lifestyle.

The program has been carefully designed to ensure the overall development of the participants. It includes academic sessions in subjects like Mathematics and Science, along with training in arts, music, cultural development, computer literacy, yoga, sports, and self-defence.

The event was also attended by senior NTPC officials – Sanjay Kumar Mittal (AGM, Operation & Maintenance), Sanjit Kumar Minz (AGM, Human Resources),  Preeti Mittal (Vice President, Swati Mahila Mandal), and. Kanti Stella Minz (General Secretary, Swati Mahila Mandal), along with other employees and members of Swati Mahila Mandal.
