JUNAGADH : Mounting anger over repeated examination paper leaks in Gujarat spilled onto the streets of Junagadh on Tuesday, where the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and Congress staged a strong protest against the alleged BAMS paper leak at Gujarat Ayurveda University. Protesters accused the BJP-led Gujarat government of failing to protect the future of students and demanded a judicial investigation, criminal action against those responsible, and the resignation of the state’s Education Minister.

The demonstration was held outside the Junagadh Collector’s office, where NSUI and Congress leaders submitted a memorandum highlighting what they called a “deep-rooted education mafia” operating within the state’s examination system.

According to the memorandum, the controversy erupted after 11 of the 12 questions circulated in a WhatsApp group as “important topics” before the third-year BAMS Shalya Tantra-I examination allegedly appeared in the final question paper. Protesters claimed the incident has raised serious questions about the role of paper setters and university officials.

“The NEET controversy has not even faded, and now another paper leak has shaken students’ faith,” Congress leader Karshandas Bapu said during the protest. “Parents invest years of hard work and hope in their children. When such scandals destroy their future, the pain is unbearable. Those responsible must be held accountable.”

Referring to the repeated exam controversies in Gujarat, Bapu alleged that the future of thousands of deserving students has been put at risk due to paper leaks in recruitment and academic examinations over the past six years.

Junagadh NSUI president Mayur Savaliya said activists observed a two-minute Ramdhun prayer, claiming it was meant to “restore wisdom” to the government before launching their protest.

“We demand a fair judicial inquiry into the Gujarat Ayurveda University paper leak. Every person involved, including paper setters, professors and officials, should face strict criminal action,” Savaliya said. “The Education Minister must take moral responsibility and resign.”

The protesters also demanded action against all individuals allegedly linked to the case and warned that student organizations would intensify their agitation if the government failed to order a high-level investigation.

NSUI and Congress warned that if decisive action is not taken soon, they will launch a statewide “Hullabol” movement by mobilising students across Gujarat, saying repeated paper leak cases are eroding confidence in the state’s education system and undermining merit-based examinations.
