The investigation into the NEET UG 2026 paper leak has uncovered a major interstate exam racket involving digital circulation of the question paper through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officially took over the case, investigators revealed that the leaked paper was allegedly purchased from a doctor based in Gurugram for Rs 30 lakh.

According to officials, the leaked question paper was distributed to nearly 700 students across multiple states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. Authorities believe the paper was first circulated digitally before printed copies were sold to candidates ahead of the examination.

One of the key accused, Rakesh Mandwariya, who was arrested in Dehradun, allegedly played a central role in spreading the paper to different regions. Investigators claim the leak network operated through encrypted messaging platforms and involved several middlemen.

Nashik Linked to Initial Leak

Investigators identified Nashik as a crucial point in the paper leak operation. A private courier employee is suspected of helping unauthorized individuals access sealed exam trunks. Officials believe the first scanned copy of the NEET paper originated from Nashik before being distributed to Haryana and Rajasthan.

The probe suggests a well-organized interstate syndicate that managed the leak and sale of examination papers before the NEET UG 2026 exam was conducted.

Students and Parents Under Investigation

Authorities are now tracking students and parents who allegedly paid large sums to obtain the leaked question paper. Investigators are analyzing WhatsApp chats, Telegram messages, financial transactions, and mobile phone records as part of the ongoing investigation.

The CBI has reportedly questioned nearly two dozen individuals connected to the case, including students and family members suspected of involvement.

Multiple Arrests Made

Officials arrested two brothers, Mangilal and Dinesh Biwal, from Jamwaramgarh in connection with the case. Investigators claim the duo received the paper from the Gurugram-based doctor.

According to reports, Dinesh Biwal later shared the paper with his son in Sikar, who was preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination. The case gained further attention after reports revealed that four children from the same family had cleared NEET in the previous year.

NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled

Amid growing allegations of malpractice and widespread outrage, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination that was held on May 3.

The CBI has registered charges including criminal conspiracy, cheating, and other related offenses. Officials stated that the investigation aims to expose the full network behind the leak and restore confidence in the examination system.
