AHMEDABAD : Gujarat Director General of Police G S Malik chaired a statewide video conference on Tuesday to review preparations for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) scheduled on June 21.

The meeting, attended by all Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, and Superintendents of Police, focused on ensuring the smooth and secure conduct of the NEET examination across the state.

The DGP appointed IGP Law and Order Makrand Chauhan as the State Nodal Officer for NEET-related law and order arrangements. Detailed deployment guidelines were issued, with police personnel to be stationed at examination centres based on the number of candidates. Authorities were directed to maintain strict surveillance on photocopy and xerox centres located near examination venues and ensure full compliance with National Testing Agency (NTA) guidelines.

Police units were instructed to conduct thorough yet sensitive frisking of candidates, particularly female students, while ensuring courteous treatment of parents and guardians. Separate arrangements have been ordered for the safe deposit of mobile phones, smart watches and other prohibited electronic devices at examination centres.

To prevent malpractice, all unit heads have been directed to jointly inspect examination centres with NTA representatives on June 20. Intensive night patrolling will be carried out from June 19 to 21 considering the confidential movement of examination materials across the state. Social media monitoring has also been intensified to counter rumours, misinformation and any attempts to disrupt the examination process.

As June 21 coincides with International Yoga Day, the DGP instructed police units to deploy separate manpower for Yoga Day programmes and examination duties to avoid any disruption to NEET candidates.

The measures aim to ensure a fair, secure and incident-free NEET examination while strengthening security and law enforcement mechanisms across the state.
