NAVSARI, GUJARAT : In reaction to a forecast of severe winds, the Navsari district administration has issued a notice to close all beaches in the district for five days, including the popular Ubharat and Dandi. This move, which went into effect today, has resulted in a notable stillness on Dandi’s typically crowded shoreline.

Tourists throng to Navsari’s beaches, particularly Dandi and Ubharat, to escape the summer heat and spend holiday time with their families. However, the Navsari District administration’s declaration has delayed these plans, disappointing visitors and raising concerns among local shopkeepers who rely on tourist traffic for a living.

Parimal Patel, former sarpanch of Dandi village, endorses the administration’s decision. “Currently, there is a strong wind blowing on Dandi’s sea coast, so the administration has taken extremely appropriate steps by issuing a notification. “The decision to close the beach for five days is correct,” Patel stated.

The closure comes 15 days after four members of the same family drowned on Dandi beach. The rapid tide caught them off guard, resulting in their untimely demise. This disaster caused the district administration to take preventative precautions, especially given the meteorological department’s forecast of strong winds.

The precautionary shutdown is intended to prevent repeat catastrophes and ensure the safety of beachgoers. Navsari District Resident Collector announced a temporary closure of the beaches to protect lives during the inclement weather.

However, local businesses are suffering financial losses as a result of the beach restrictions. The surge of tourists generates enormous revenue for vendors and businesses along the seaside. “While the safety measures are necessary, this closure will have an impact on our earnings,” remarked a local seller. “We rely on the tourists, especially during the peak vacation season.”

Regardless of the economic ramifications, the administration’s choice to prioritize public safety has received widespread support. The calm beaches of Dandi and Ubharat, which were previously bustling with laughter and activity, now stand in sharp contrast, waiting for vacationers to return once the weather improves.
