Surat, Gujarat – In a heart-wrenching incident that has sent shockwaves through the diamond city of Surat, 23-year-old model Anjali Varmora, a promising talent with a burgeoning career, was found dead by suicide in her Navsari Bazaar home on Saturday night. The young woman, who had achieved considerable success at a tender age, reportedly hanged herself, leaving her family in utter disbelief and grappling with an agonizing mystery. The lack of a suicide note has only deepened the enigma surrounding her tragic decision, prompting police to launch a comprehensive investigation, focusing intently on her digital footprint and recent professional interactions.

“We are completely shattered,” stated Anjali’s brother, recounting the harrowing moments leading up to the discovery. “My mother and I had stepped out. Anjali was alone at home. Within half an hour, my elder sister and brother-in-law arrived. In that short span, she took this drastic step.” The family’s immediate reaction was one of profound shock, a sentiment that has lingered as they struggle to comprehend the motive behind Anjali’s actions.

Anjali Alpeshbhai Varmora, residing in Kartik Apartment, was the youngest of two daughters. Her father, Alpeshbhai Varmora, a GEB colony employee, had passed away in an accident two and a half years prior, leaving their mother to shoulder the family’s responsibilities. “I have two sisters, and I am the only son,” her brother shared, his voice heavy with grief. “My elder sister is married. Anjali was the younger one. Our mother has been incredibly strong, working hard to keep our family afloat.”

Anjali’s entry into the modeling world a year ago had been met with full family support. She quickly carved a niche for herself, working with various companies before joining Revenue Model Casting Agency in recent months. Her projects spanned across Surat and Ahmedabad, and she would travel only when there was shooting work, otherwise preferring to stay at home.

Adding to the family’s bewilderment is Anjali’s engagement two years ago. “She was very happy with her fiancé, and there were no issues within the family,” her brother affirmed. The couple was planning their wedding after Diwali, a testament to their seemingly stable and joyful relationship.

The events of Saturday night paint a picture of normalcy before the tragedy struck. “After having dinner together, both mom and I went out. Anjali was alone at home,” her brother recalled. “When I returned around 11:30, 12:00 at night, she was sitting in the hall, laughing on the phone. I offered to get her something to eat, but she declined. I told her I was going out again, and she simply said, ‘You should come back soon.'”

The chilling discovery unfolded when Anjali’s elder sister and brother-in-law arrived around 12:30 AM, knocking on the door to no response. “After half an hour, I also returned home,” her brother continued. “Anjali’s fiancé was informed and rushed over. We had to break down the door to find her. She had tragically hanged herself from the fan with a scarf.”

Anjali’s sister, visibly distraught, echoed the family’s confusion. “We have no idea why Anjali took such a step. We came to meet her and found her like that. There were no family problems, and we fully supported her work. Anjali was most attached to her fiancé. We desperately want to know why she did this.”

While ruling out family or relationship issues, the family harbors suspicions about her professional life. “The police are investigating, but it seems likely that something happened at the company she was working for,” her sister speculated. This suspicion is further fueled by two social media posts Anjali made shortly before her death, which are now under police scrutiny.

The Athwa police have registered a case and are diligently pursuing all leads. With no suicide note recovered, the focus has shifted to Anjali’s mobile phone. Authorities have successfully unlocked the device and are now sifting through its contents for any clues that might shed light on her final moments. While initial suspicions lean towards a “mental pond” – implying a sudden mental health crisis – the Athwa police are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for answers in this deeply perplexing and tragic case.
