Surat : Under the Kashmiri Youth Exchange Program, 132 young individuals from Jammu and Kashmir had a remarkable opportunity to explore Adani Hazira Port in Surat, a pivotal hub for India’s import-export operations. Organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra-Surat and My Bharat-Surat, in collaboration with the Union Home Ministry and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the program aims to foster cultural exchange and provide exposure to India’s development milestones.

Hailing from districts like Anantnag, Kupwara, Baramulla, Budgam, Srinagar, and Pulwama, the youth were amazed by the scale and sophistication of the port. For many, it was their first encounter with the sea and a major industrial facility. The visit left an indelible impression, sparking curiosity and appreciation for the country’s economic infrastructure.

Afreen, a participant from Baramulla, expressed her astonishment, saying, “Today, we learned and witnessed how import-export operations are conducted and how international trade is managed. It was my first time seeing the sea and massive ships.”

Mohammad Hameed from Pulwama described the experience as “wonderful,” while Maria from Srinagar called it a “life-changing experience.” She extended gratitude to the organizers and Adani Port for the opportunity.

Sara Jafar, another participant, marveled at the use of advanced technology at the port. “I was amazed to see how automatic cranes can handle massive operations with minimal human intervention. It’s something I’ve never witnessed before,” she said enthusiastically.

The Kashmiri Youth Exchange Program not only introduced the visitors to one of the country’s economic powerhouses but also strengthened bonds between regions through shared experiences and learning.

By showcasing India’s industrial prowess and providing a platform for dialogue, the program exemplifies efforts to integrate the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with the nation’s progress. Such initiatives pave the way for greater understanding and inspire young minds to contribute to India’s development story.
