Karnataka government transfers ADGP Amrit Paul for his involvement in the PSI recruitment scam

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]: Karnataka’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Recruitment Wing, Amrit Paul has been transferred with immediate effect following his involvement in the Police-Sub Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam on Wednesday.
Paul, a senior police officer, and ADGP, Recruitment Wing of Karnataka Police was transferred and posted as ADGP internal security division in Bengaluru with immediate effect by the Karnataka Government on Wednesday.
The name of the senior IPS surfaced in the investigation into the PSI recruitment scam after Congress leveled allegations against the officer.
In order, the Karnataka Government stated that Amrit Paul, IPS (KN-1995) batch serving as ADGP Recruitment Wing is transferred and posted as ADGP internal security division until further orders. R Hithendra, IPS of 1996 batch and ADGP crimes and technical services was placed in the concurrent charge of the post of ADGP Recruitment.
Congress MLA and former minister Priyank Kharge leveled charges that the Home Minister along with government and officials of the department are involved in the 545 PSI recruitment scam in the state. The Home Minister, according to Kharge, is trying to safeguard the prime accused in the scam Divya Hagaragi.
Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai, while addressing the media persons last week, stated that the government is doing everything related to the PSI recruitment scam and it will be investigated thoroughly and stringent actions will be taken against the accused. Also, the candidates who appeared for the PSI exam and cleared it will be interrogated.
