Sydney : J Farren-Price, a well-known Australian jeweller, is displaying the first product of jewellery made from a new collection of rare pink diamonds from Rio Tinto’s now-closed Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia.

The first masterpiece, The Argyle LotusTM ring, is the premiere gem of the collection and features 3.34 carats of Argyle Pink DiamondsTM, accented by 3.82 carats of white diamonds. The lotus flower is revered as a sign of everlasting peace, and J Farren-Price’s exquisite version is set in 18 karat rose gold, with the elegant petals unfurling from a 0.12 carat Fancy Blue Argyle DiamondTM nestled on the underside as a symbol of water.

The Argyle Heritage CollectionTM is a unique collaboration with Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon PartnerTM, GLAJZ, to create twenty limited edition jewellery pieces using the highest colour spectrum of Argyle pink diamonds. The Argyle pink diamonds vary in size from 0.30 carat to over one carat, and three of them were formerly Argyle Pink Diamonds TenderTM gems. J Farren-Price will disclose the remaining items in the multi-million dollar Argyle Heritage CollectionTM, each carefully made, in the following months.

Patrick Coppens, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Rio Tinto’s Diamonds business said, “We are delighted with this creative collaboration and The Argyle Lotus™ ring is a fitting debut piece for this heritage collection of masterpieces that will speak to the beauty and precious provenance of these outstanding jewels.”

The Argyle Lotus™ ring, together with the future pieces from the Argyle Heritage Collection™, has been crafted under the Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon Partner programme, which aims to preserve the provenance and integrity of Argyle Pink Diamonds since the mine completed production in November 2020.

Led by international jewellers renowned for their unique and captivating vision, the programme honours the world’s most valuable diamonds through world-class craftsmanship and evocative design. Each creation represents the ultimate in rarity and collectability.

Julian Farren-Price, Director of J Farren-Price said “This extraordinary collection of rare Argyle Pink Diamonds is a dream come true. We are excited to honour the world’s most iconic pink diamonds and each creation in the Argyle Heritage Collection™ will represent the ultimate in rarity and collectability.

We appreciate that every Argyle Pink Diamond is a beautiful wonder of nature and it is with great pride that we continue to transform these billion year old gems into jewellery that recreates this beauty for future generations.”

The Argyle LotusTM will be available for sale for A$930,000 through J Farren-Price’s store in Sydney.

Located in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, the renowned Argyle diamond mine was open from 1983 until November 2020. It was and remains virtually the only source for pink diamonds in the world.
