New York : The United Nations invited Nachiket Joshi, Director of Global Vision India Foundation, to speak at the 8th Annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology, and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum), which took place May 02-05, 2023, at United Nations Headquarters in New York, New York, USA. Mr. Joshi spoke at the event on May 3, 2023, on the topic of “The importance of strengthening trust in science and technology for accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).”
Mr. Joshi spoke on India’s efforts to improve public confidence in science and technology and overcome obstacles in his country as part of his address. These efforts have been spearheaded by the country’s honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. To guarantee the public has access to accurate and trustworthy information regarding the epidemic, he further stressed the need of a multi-stakeholder approach.
Using traditional and online channels, “a comprehensive scientific communication plan was developed to improve public knowledge and confidence in science and technology. Communication of scientific research to the mass population during and after the pandemic has already attracted attention from remote areas of the nation and the world at large, and it was done through the “Mann Ki Baat” platform, which recently completed its 100th episode and was broadcast live in the UN headquarters. According to Nachiket Joshi, “India developed and distributed vaccines in a transparent and evidence-based manner, with necessary data shared publicly to ensure trust in the vaccines.”
Mr. Joshi also spoke with delegations from other nations and groups, during which time he told them about the success of India’s vaccination plan under the leadership of the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said it was one of the best advertisements ever since it received media coverage all around the globe. The immunisations were made available by the government on January 20, 2021. As of January 2023, India has helped around 150 countries implement the Covid vaccination with its assistance. About 282 million doses of vaccination had been sent from India to other countries, while another 2.2 billion doses had been administered to Indians.
Author and environmentalist Nachiket Joshi is also a successful social entrepreneur. He now serves as the head of the Global Vision India Foundation. His expertise extends well beyond the realm of entrepreneurship, including such diverse topics as national and international development, the SDGs, digital transformation, human rights, leadership skills, intercultural harmony, gender equality, and more. He is an accomplished policy advocate and session facilitator. He has contributed significantly to the exploration of novel approaches to fixing the problems caused by the epidemic.
The United Nations has been actively engaged in the fight against the pandemic and has been working to ensure that the public is informed and empowered to make right decisions. Mr Joshi’s participation in this event is a testament to the importance of strengthening trust in science and technology for accelerating the recovery from the pandemic.
