Ahmedabad : Deepfake and AI-generated videos of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi have come to light, prompting Gujarat Congress spokesperson Hemang Raval to approach the Elligbridge Police seeking action on the matter. The video circulating on Facebook shows Sonia Gandhi allegedly asking people to invest in a scheme. Raval has requested that the government immediately direct Facebook and Meta to remove such fake videos.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Media Coordinator and Spokesperson Mr. Hemang Raval stated, “On 21-11-2024, a fake video of our leader Sonia Gandhi was seen on Facebook and Meta. In the video, she is shown asking people for investment. She has not uploaded any such video, and this fake video was created using artificial intelligence. Further investigation revealed that a similar modus operandi is being used, involving well-known industrialist Narayan Murthy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah. Cyber fraud is being committed against the citizens of the country through these fake videos. We have lodged a complaint with Cybercrime, and when such fake sponsored videos are being run from Facebook and Meta’s authorized Blue Tick accounts, it is causing citizens to fall into cyber traps and lose their money. The State Congress demands that the gangs responsible for these activities be exposed, the public be made aware, and the Home Department take strict action against such cyber mafias.”

In the press briefing, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee’s Media Convener and Spokesperson Dr. Manish Doshi and Spokesperson Parthivaraj Singh Kathwadia were also present.
