IDT Fashionova-2023 Showcases AI-Generated Prints, Unveils India’s First AI-Powered Fashion Designing Course

Surat : The Institute of Design and Technology (IDT), a premier design and technology institute in Surat’s Textile City, recently hosted the first-ever IDFL ‘Fashionova-2023’ fashion show in Surat, where students presented a variety of garments and one sequence, specifically curated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated prints.

Fashionova-2023 was inaugurated by Chief Guest Smt. Darshna Jardosh (Union Minister of State for Textiles) and graced by Guest of Honour Shri Rajiv Saxena (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India) at the Platinum Hall of the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) in Sarsana. IDT, noted for its innovation and forward-thinking attitude, announced the introduction of India’s first AI-powered fashion designing course, further demonstrating the company’s dedication to keeping ahead of industry trends.

Mr. Anupam Goyal and Mrs. Ankita Goyal of IDT expressed their excitement for the occasion. The fashion show featured a collection of garments designed on a special bridal theme show featuring pre-wedding and post-wedding collections curated by IDT’s Official Mentor, Mr. Narendra Kumar, for 2023, and the collection was minutely judged, evaluated, and assessed by the esteemed 3-panel members, guided by Dr. Bandana Bhattacharrya. MS. Sangeeta Choksi, Ms. Madhavi Mahuvagara, Ms. Seema Kalavadiya (Fashion Designers); Ms. Parishi Shah, Ms. Srishti Tanwani, Mr. Niraj Vaidya (Industry Fashion Designers); and Ms. Jagdish Purohit, Ms. Vanita Rawat (Fashion Influencers) comprised the jury.

As artificial intelligence continues to make advances in a variety of industries, the textile and apparel industry is seeing its promise. Recognising this, IDT adopted a proactive approach and launched Fashionova-2023, an annual fashion exhibition including items developed with the assistance of AI. The event also acted as a venue for the colloquium, with talks centred on the impact of artificial intelligence on Surat’s textile and garment sectors. The ballroom exploded with applause as models walked down the runway wearing these one-of-a-kind outfits, showing the success of the AI-driven designs. Zapero, a firm well-versed in AI-designed clothes that has also used AI training to teach youngsters, participated in the event. The Pure collection, helmed by designer Narendra Kumar, injected new life into the fashion industry.
