Gujarat Tableau Wins Hearts and Awards at National Republic Day Parade
The award, presented by Ajay Bhatt, Union Minister of State for Defence and Tourism, was received with immense pride by the Information Department of Gujarat. Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s vibrant tableau, “Dhordo, World’s Best Tourism Village-UNWTO,” has captured both the hearts of the people and the top prize in the People’s Choice Award category at the 75th Republic Day parade in New Delhi. The tableau, showcasing the cultural richness and tourism potential of the Kutch region, also secured a commendable second place in the Jury’s Choice category, bringing double honors to the state.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and creativity of our Information Department,” said Chief Minister Patel. “The tableau beautifully captured the essence of Dhordo and Kutch, highlighting their unique cultural heritage and positioning them as a premier tourist destination.”
The captivating tableau featured a meticulously crafted replica of a traditional Kutch “Bhunga” mud house, surrounded by vibrant representations of the Rann Utsav, intricate handicrafts, and lively performances of the renowned “Bhatigal Garba,” recently recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. The tableau also incorporated elements showcasing the state’s digital revolution and its impact on rural areas.
This is the second consecutive year that Gujarat’s tableau has won the People’s Choice Award, garnering a remarkable 32% of the public votes. This overwhelming response reflects the tableau’s success in resonating with viewers across the nation, effectively promoting Dhordo and Kutch as must-visit tourist destinations.
The Information Department team, led by Chief Minister’s Secretary and Information & Broadcasting Secretary Avantika Singh and Information Directori Dhiraj Parekh, received special appreciation for their meticulous planning and execution. Their dedication in bringing this vision to life has not only earned recognition for Gujarat but also contributed significantly to promoting tourism and cultural awareness across India.
