Gandhingar : In a sting operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Hathisinh Kanjibhai Solanki, the Talati of Madhavgarh Gram Panchayat, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The incident occurred under the Zakhora Bridge in Bachcha village, Gandhinagar.

Solanki allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant who approached him to enter his wife’s name in the inheritance rights sheet of their ancestral land located within the limits of Madhavgarh Gram Panchayat. The land is currently registered in the name of the complainant’s wife’s father and brothers.

According to the complaint, Solanki demanded an initial bribe of ₹2 lakh for including his wife’s name in the inheritance records. The complainant was reportedly taken aback by this blatant demand for bribery. After negotiation, the amount was settled at ₹50,000.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. A trap was subsequently set under the Zakhora Bridge, where Solanki was caught red-handed accepting the bribe money.

“PI SD Chawda of Mehsana ACB police station, along with his team, meticulously planned and executed the operation,” informed an official source. Solanki has been arrested under corruption charges, and the ACB is conducting further investigations.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of bribery within government offices, particularly those dealing with land records and inheritance rights.
