Surat : There has been a worrying uptick in scams carried out by con men in Gujarat. Surat’s crime branch has arrested an impostor from Ahmedabad who has been engaged in a series of cheating cases dating back to 2012, after the recent arrests of numerous high-profile fraudsters by the Gujarat police.

Kishore Rathod, also known as Kishore Valand, is suspected of bilking people out of thousands of rupees by posing as officials from reputable institutions including the Gujarat Gas Company Limited (GGCL) and the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Rathod’s deceitful activities have resulted in over 30 complaints filed against him from Surat and its neighboring areas. Exploiting his masquerade as a senior GGCL and SMC officer, he would entice individuals with promises of expedited gas connections and other civic amenities, only to deceive them and make off with their hard-earned money.

The Surat Crime Branch, acting on a tip-off, managed to apprehend Kishore Rathod in a swift operation conducted in Paldi, Ahmedabad. The Surat police had been diligently working to track down the accused, who had been preying on innocent victims under the guise of facilitating connections with the Gujarat Gas Company. Complaints had been lodged against Rathod at both the Umra and Amroli police stations in Surat. Subsequently, acting on valuable information, the police successfully arrested Kishore Valand in Ahmedabad.

These recent developments shed light on the increasing prevalence of fraudulent activities and the need for heightened vigilance to protect individuals from falling victim to such scams. The Gujarat police have been intensifying their efforts to crack down on conmen operating within the state, but the rise in such cases is cause for concern.

Law enforcement agencies and authorities in Gujarat are now focusing on tightening security measures and raising public awareness to combat the growing menace of con artists. The public is being urged to exercise caution, verify the credentials of individuals claiming to represent official organizations, and report any suspicious activities promptly to the authorities.

The arrest of Kishore Rathod serves as a stern warning to other would-be fraudsters that their actions will not go unnoticed. The Gujarat police are committed to safeguarding the interests of the public and ensuring that perpetrators of fraudulent schemes face the full force of the law.
