SURAT : MANTRA, a leading textile research institute in Surat, has received a prestigious ITTA Award in Mumbai for its contribution to technical textile innovation, with the recognition coming for the development of four novel yarns.
The award was presented by Khosla at an event attended by Ajay Pandit, Joint Textile Commissioner of India, and Kartikey Dhada, CEO of the Textile Committee, Government of India.
Umesh Patel of MANTRA received the award on behalf of the institute.
Dr Pankaj Gandhi, Director of MANTRA, congratulated the institute’s research and management teams for the achievement.
“This prestigious ITTA Award is a recognition of the innovation and dedicated research undertaken by the entire MANTRA team. The development of four novel yarns for technical textile applications reflects our commitment to translating research into solutions for the industry,” Gandhi said.
The recognition comes as India’s technical textile sector increasingly focuses on indigenous research, advanced materials and high-performance products.
Gandhi said the award would further encourage MANTRA’s researchers to pursue application-oriented innovation and develop technologies that can strengthen India’s technical textile ecosystem.
The achievement also highlights the growing role of Surat’s textile research and industrial ecosystem in developing next-generation materials for specialised applications.
