Gujarat Elections : PM Modi attacks Congress with the ‘one rupee 15 paise’ remark

After his two day tour in Gujarat and the massive roadshow in Ahmedabad on Thursday, PM Modi visited Shri Ogadnathji temple in Kankrej, Banaskantha district

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took an apparent dig at the Congress on Friday claiming that the PM would send one rupee, but only 15 paise reached the intended beneficiaries. “E kayo haath hato je 85 paise ne ghasi leto hato” (which palm was it that used to rub away 85 paise).

After his two day tour in Gujarat and the massive roadshow in Ahmedabad on Thursday, PM Modi visited Shri Ogadnathji temple in Kankrej, Banaskantha district before starting his last public rallies for the second phase of polling in Gujarat on Friday. Modi was seemingly nervous and faltered at many occasions while delivering his public speeches. The punch in the PM Modi’s speeches was missing as if he was upset with the low voters’ turnout in the first phase of the Gujarat elections.

Taking a dig at the Congress at Nathpura village in Banaskantha’s Kankrej, PM Modi said, “When Congress start complaining about faulty EVMs then you have to be sure that they have accepted the defeat. Same thing happened in the first phase of polling as the Congress leaders cripped on the faulty EVMs. During the election campaigning Congress abuse Modi, and at the time of voting they abuse the EVMs. IT is their behavior in every elections” said PM Modi.

Following the low voters turnout in the first phase, PM Modi appealed the voters in Kankrej to come out and exercise their franchise to celebrate the festival of elections. He also exhorted the people to vote to ensure that the Lotus blooms in Gandhinagar.

Giving an example, PM Modi said, “BJP is Trust and Trust is BJP. If you have a good car and an experienced driver, but one of the tires is punctured then will you be able to reach your desired destination? The same is with the BJP and the Gujarat election. If you want to protect the prosperity of Gujarat, then you have to vote for the BJP”

Earlier in the day, PM Modi tweeted, “Have you come across breathtaking images from the recently launched EOS-06 satellite? Sharing some beautiful images of Gujarat. These advances in the world of space technology will help us to better predict cyclones and promote our coastal economy too.”

“Whatever the work, Congress sees its own interest first, and the interest of the country later: PM Modi in Kankrej. “, “There has been a firm identity of the Congress – to stall, to hang, to wander.” PM Modi added that Congress failed to understand the problems faced by the farmers and said that many irrigation projects were stalled by them which only got completed after the BJP took power in the centre.

PM Modi gave a few examples of corruption undertaken by the Congress and said, “Congress used to do scams worth thousands and lakhs of crores. Congress had made corruption a courtesy. Have your read in the newspapers or seen in the television about any single scam during the eight  years of BJP’s rule at the centre?”

In Patan, PM Modi remembered his childhood days when he said, “As a kid, I haven’t forgotten the agitations by the people for the Patan-Bhildi railway line and the Modasa-Kapadvanj railway line. Congress’s government did not give heed to the agitations. When your son sat in Delhi, he was aware of the problems in Patan. Today, Patan is connected by a railway network with Jodhpur. We know the importance of connectivity than the Congress government” said PM Modi.

A turnout of more than 63% was recorded on Thursday as Gujarat voted in the first round of polling for its assembly election, with the second and final round scheduled for 93 assembly seats on December 5, followed by the counting of votes three days later. As many as 89 seats across nineteen districts went to polls in the first phase of the assembly election in the home state of PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah. The state has a total of 182 assembly segments.

The state of Gujarat has been instrumental in bringing about a global shift toward solar power, making it one of the most important places in history. As a group, we aim to elevate the status of the food providers from “annadatas” to “vijdatas.” Green hydrogen produced in Patan district will soon power vehicles, Prime Minister Modi has announced..

“Congress used to do scams worth thousands and lakhs of crores. Congress had made corruption a courtesy. Facilities are being developed in the border villages so that instead of migration, more employment & self-employment opportunities are created in the villages” said PM Modi.

In Anand district’s Sojitra, PM Modi said remembered the key contributions of Bhai Kaka and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for their immense contributions in making the cooperative model of Amul in Anand to empower villages and the poor of the country. The PM added that Congress continues to ignore the contributions of the great Sarda Patel and targeted them for not paying their respects to the Statute of Unity (SoU).

PM Modi, while speaking in Patan, outlined the initiatives taken by the BJP government to increase women’s participation in public life, citing Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and the recruitment of daughters into the armed forces as examples of these reforms. Prime Minister Modi also noted that the International Year of Millets will have a significant impact on Bajra farmers in the Patan region.

“The country is confident that no matter how big the challenges are, only the BJP will find solutions”. PM Modi iterated on the efforts of the BJP government in providing vaccines, fiscal support and subsidies to the people during the COVID period.
