Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated 70 new ST buses, deployed by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), between Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar in the presence of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Shankar Chaudhary, and cabinet ministers on Monday.

About 5,000 people including the working across offices in Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar will now have access to 70 new ST buses through the Sachivalay point service. Moreover, this transportation service will also serve the needs of regular citizens from across the state who visit the Secretariat for their business or presentations.

In addition to the Sachivalaya point service, the Gujarat State Transport (ST) Corporation manages a daily fleet of over 8,000 buses, covering 33 lakh kilometres and serving more than 25 lakh passengers with safety, security, and punctuality to their destinations. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government plans to acquire new buses annually to enhance passenger convenience. The government provides financial assistance to the corporation.

As per the budget allocation for 2022-23 and 2023-24, a total of 2,812 new vehicles including Super Express, Gurjar Nagri, and Sleeper Coaches will be introduced for passenger service. Among these new vehicles, 70 buses have been inaugurated for the Sachivalay Point service for Rs 26 crores, launched by the Chief Minister.

Under the guidance of Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of State for Transport, the ST Corporation has already deployed 1520 new buses for public service in the past 14 months. Additionally, the corporation plans to introduce more such new bus services in future to improve passenger convenience.
