Ahmedabad : In his post-budget commentary, Adi Jain, Vice President of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, provides insights into the recently unveiled Gujarat State Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the state government has presented a robust budget, meticulously crafted to position Gujarat as a pivotal player in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. Jain commends the government’s holistic approach, particularly its focus on education, skill development, and entrepreneurial encouragement.

The budget, with a total outlay of Rs 55,114 crore for the education sector, underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing education at all levels. Emphasizing the pivotal role of adolescent girls in the state’s progress, the government has introduced measures to ensure their active participation.

Girls in Class 9 and 10 will receive Rs 10,000 annually, while those in Class 11 and 12 will be entitled to Rs 15,000 each year. This strategic move aims not only to curb dropouts but also to enhance the overall health and education status of girls, acknowledging their significance in shaping the future.

The Namo Saraswati scheme, a highlight proposed by the Honourable Finance Minister of Gujarat, is designed to incentivize greater enrolment in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.

This initiative seeks to cultivate a skilled workforce in high-value technology jobs, aligning with the evolving demands of the global market. Mr. Jain applauds this forward-thinking approach, recognizing its potential to bridge skill gaps and bolster Gujarat’s position in the technology sector.

In the realm of higher education, the budget introduces plans to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to emerging sectors like Green Hydrogen Technology, Fintech, and Green Energy. This strategic move aims to equip the youth with the necessary skills to thrive in future technologies, ensuring that Gujarat remains at the forefront of innovation and technological advancements.
