Surat : In a strategic move to bolster India’s gem and jewellery exports, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has rolled out a comprehensive Exporters’ Development Program (EDP). The two-month online initiative, which began on December 13, 2024, aims to equip manufacturers and traders with the tools and knowledge to successfully navigate international markets.
With India being one of the world’s leading hubs for gems and jewellery, GJEPC’s EDP focuses on developing export readiness and broadening the exporter base.
The program consists of eight meticulously crafted modules that cover a wide spectrum of topics, such as Assessing Export Readiness, Export Procedures and Documentation,Identifying and Engaging Buyers, Leveraging E-Commerce Platforms,Building and Positioning Brands,MSME Schemes and Policy Incentives,Accessing Middle East Markets through IJEX, Exporting under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with nations like the UAE and Australia.
The initiative has already enrolled 140 participants from across the country, each benefiting from targeted guidance provided by regionally deployed Export Managers. These experts offer hands-on advice and resolve participant queries, ensuring a seamless learning experience throughout the program.
A key highlight of the EDP is its focus on practical application. By including modules on exporting through e-commerce platforms and leveraging FTAs, GJEPC is encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to tap into emerging export opportunities. Additionally, the program emphasizes market-specific strategies, such as accessing the Middle East market through the India Jewellery Exposition (IJEX).
This initiative comes at a crucial time as the gem and jewellery sector seeks to recover from recent global challenges. With the introduction of the EDP, GJEPC aims to foster a new generation of exporters capable of navigating evolving market dynamics and sustaining India’s leadership in the global gem and jewellery trade.
The program also aligns with broader national objectives, supporting the vision of increasing India’s share in global exports. By enabling manufacturers and traders to overcome export barriers, GJEPC’s initiative is poised to significantly contribute to the sector’s growth and resilience.
