Dr Vijay Shah Takes Charge of Rotary Club

SURAT : The Rotary Club of Surat West ushered in a new leadership team for the Rotary Year 2026–27 with the installation of renowned paediatrician Rtn Dr Vijay Shah as its President during a grand ceremony attended by prominent citizens, Rotarians and distinguished guests.

The installation was led by Past President Rtn Rajnikant Marfatia, who formally inducted Dr Shah and the new Board of Directors. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr Nirmal Choraria, while Past District Governor Rtn Devendra Shastri inducted Dr Choraria as an Honorary Rotarian.

A major highlight of the evening was the launch of the book, “Surat – Heritage • Harmony • Humanity: Peace Through Development.” The publication, authored by Sanjay Chokshi, was conceptualised and coordinated by President Dr Vijay Shah and Past President Rtn Shilpa Vijay Shah.

“This publication reflects Surat’s enduring values of heritage, harmony and humanitarian service while promoting Rotary’s vision of creating lasting impact,” the club stated.

The book is the Rotary Club of Surat West’s flagship peace-building initiative. It was conceptualised by Rtn Shilpa Vijay Shah, Rotary Peace Fellowships Chair of Rotary District 3060. The publication showcases Surat’s growth and values through the lens of Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to peace, community development and sustainable service.

The ceremony marked the beginning of a new Rotary year with a renewed commitment to service, leadership and community engagement across Surat.
