Kejriwal, the national coordinator of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is scheduled to arrive in Surat from New Delhi on Saturday night. Kejriwal will stay at the Surat Circuit House and will leave for Jhagadiya in Bharuch at the residence of BTP President, Chhotubhai Vasava on Sunday.
At noon, both Kejriwal and Vasava will leave for the ‘Adivasi Sankalp Mahasammelan’ organised at White House in Valia’s Chanderi village in Bharuch district. The duo will be addressing a mammoth gathering of tribals from across Gujarat, especially the south Gujarat region including Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Dangs, and Tapi districts respectively.
It is a maiden visit of Kejriwal to Bharuch after the AAP joined hands with BTP for the upcoming Assembly Election in the State.
According to political observers, the AAP-BTP alliance comes at a time when tribals in South Gujarat, particularly in the Dangs and Valsad regions, have begun an agitation against the Central Government for implementing the Par-Tapi-Narmada river linking project.
To resist the Central Government’s Par-Tapi-Narmada river link project, tribal leaders in south Gujarat have organised a series of protest programmes, public meetings, and demonstrations. Due to the failure of the Narmada Yojana project, the tribals have blamed the government of imposing the river linking project on the destitute tribals.
After its victory in Punjab, AAP is expanding its footprints in Gujarat ahead of the assembly election scheduled this year. The BTP has found new hope with the AAP joining hands to fight against the ruling BJP in Gujarat.
Kejriwal and Vasava will be officially announcing the tie-up of their parties at the crucial meeting between both the leaders at Jaghadiya in Bharuch district on Sunday.
