Anand, Gujarat – In a major push towards agricultural transformation, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday launched the Viksit Krushi Sankalp Abhiyan ( વિકસિત કૃષિ સંકલ્પ અભિયાન) from Anand Agricultural University, aiming to empower over 3.5 lakh farmers across Gujarat with modern, sustainable farming practices.

The campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in collaboration with ICAR, will run nationwide from May 29 to June 12, with Gujarat taking a lead role. Scientists from 30 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, experts from four agricultural universities, and progressive farmers will conduct on-ground outreach across 2,951 clusters in 235 talukas.

“This campaign is an opportunity for the farmers of Gujarat to enjoy the Ganga at home,” said CM Patel, stressing how Gujarat under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set benchmarks in agri-innovation. “From nano urea to drone technology, Gujarat has shown the world how to embrace the future of farming with scientific vigor and indigenous knowledge.”

CM Patel emphasized the campaign’s focus on integrated agricultural solutions—value addition, natural farming, soil health, climate-resilient crops, and efficient fertilizer use. “It’s not just about higher yields; it’s about making our farmers self-reliant and informed,” he added.

The campaign will directly impact:1 lakh farmers in 793 villages under Anand Agricultural University,80,000 farmers from 465 villages under Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University,1.20 lakh farmers from 933 villages under Junagadh Agricultural University, and 71,000 farmers from 760 villages under Navsari Agricultural University

Dr. Manish Das, ICAR representative, highlighted the council’s pivotal role: “We are translating lab innovations into field realities. Through this campaign, we aim to solve critical challenges faced by 1.5 crore farmers across Gujarat.”

K.B. Kathiria, Vice Chancellor of Anand Agricultural University, called the initiative a “mutual education campaign between farmers and scientists,” noting it as a powerful medium to bridge the gap between grassroots practices and modern agri-science.
