Kochi, India — What began as a modest garage in Kollam, Kerala, has today evolved into one of India’s most structured premium aftermarket automotive platforms. Established in 2015, Roavion Automotive Pvt. Ltd., operating as Autobacs India, has steadily built a formal, compliance-driven ecosystem in a segment that was once largely unorganized.

Founded by Sachin T, the venture started more than a decade ago with basic fibre modifications and small car maintenance. At a time when India’s aftermarket industry was dominated by cosmetic add-ons, inconsistent pricing, and informal operations, he envisioned a professionally managed platform built on global sourcing, research-backed products, and standardized processes.

Supporting this growth at the organizational level is Pathumwadee Manu, a Thai national and partner in the company who holds a 20% equity stake in Roavion Automotive Pvt. Ltd. She currently leads the Human Resources department and oversees logistics and operational management for imports from Bangkok and China, playing an important role in strengthening the company’s international sourcing and internal organisational structure.

A Vision Beyond Cosmetic Modifications

In its early years, the business faced financial constraints, low consumer trust, and operational challenges. Premium aftermarket upgrades were uncommon in India, and customers were hesitant about the authenticity and proper installation of imported performance and aesthetic products.

Despite these barriers, the leadership remained focused on introducing internationally engineered components supported by structured research and development practices. The aim was clear: to move beyond superficial modifications and establish credibility through product quality, transparency, and technical education.

A significant breakthrough came in 2018 when the company executed one of India’s earliest American-style Ford Endeavour builds using premium components sourced from the United States and Japan. The project gained national visibility after being featured by media platforms such as News18 and Cartoq. The cinematic documentation of the build crossed one million views on YouTube, reflecting growing demand for globally inspired automotive upgrades within India.

Restructuring During Uncertainty

The COVID-19 period brought severe financial stress across industries, and the automotive aftermarket was no exception. Instead of slowing operations, the company used this phase to restructure its entire business model.

The workshop format was transformed into a professionally organized corporate structure with defined departments covering sales, operations, procurement, logistics, marketing, human resources, information technology, customer care, accounts, and media production. This structural shift marked a transition from project-based execution to system-driven operations.

Recognizing the importance of building trust in a fragmented market, the company invested in content-led education. Through digital platforms and direct customer engagement, it began informing consumers about product authenticity, global standards, and technical specifications. This approach introduced greater pricing transparency and helped move the segment toward MRP-based structures for imported products.

Expanding Global and Industry Presence

In 2022, the company strengthened its international positioning by representing India at the Bangkok Auto Salon, one of Asia’s prominent automotive customization exhibitions. The participation facilitated direct engagement with global manufacturers and strengthened international sourcing partnerships.

In 2023, the company engineered a Special Operations Vehicle for Air Safari India, India’s first aero-tourism company operating under the Tourism Ministry of Uttarakhand. This project demonstrated its capability to execute purpose-built, mission-oriented vehicles beyond conventional customization.

Continuing its premium positioning, in 2024 it introduced Lamborghini and Maybach-inspired upgrade products at Auto Salon Delhi, signalling a shift in perception within India’s modification ecosystem. The focus moved from cosmetic alterations to luxury-oriented, globally manufactured enhancement solutions.

Most recently, in 2026, Autobacs India introduced government-compliant acoustic sound systems for electric vehicles. By becoming the official importer of an OEM manufacturer from Germany, the company aligned with evolving EV regulations and brought certified compliance solutions to the Indian market. This initiative represents a meaningful step toward bridging international automotive standards with India’s emerging electric mobility ecosystem.

A Structured, Pan-India Ecosystem

Today, the platform operates through 42 installation collaboration points across the country, serving customers nationwide. With over 110,000 organic social media followers, more than 10 million monthly digital reach, and over 6,000 monthly enquiries, the company has established a strong repeat customer base and nationwide visibility.

Sales operations extend through its official website, direct-to-customer channels in Kochi, authorised distributors, sub-dealers, WhatsApp sales, Meta commerce integrations, and Instagram Shop presence. This omnichannel approach supports structured distribution while maintaining brand governance and quality control.

From a small regional garage to a ₹7–8 crore organized automotive ecosystem, the journey reflects disciplined execution, long-term industry formalisation, and consistent operational standardisation.

Driving Industry Formalisation

The broader impact of this growth extends beyond business expansion. By combining international brand collaborations, defined departmental structures, compliance-driven product introductions, and a pan-India installation network, Autobacs India is contributing to the formalisation of India’s premium aftermarket automotive sector.

For investors and automotive enthusiasts alike, the company’s evolution signals a shift toward transparency, governance, and structured scalability in a traditionally fragmented market.

With a focus on sustainable growth, regulatory alignment, and global partnerships, the organisation continues to position itself as a credible national platform shaping the future of India’s premium automotive upgrade ecosystem.
