Bangalore (Karnataka): Agriculture has always been India’s backbone. India is one of the world’s largest agrarian economies, with over 54% of its population employed in agricultural and allied sector jobs. However, Indian farmers face numerous challenges each year in order to grow healthy and sufficient crops. From insufficient resources to the wrath of nature, many farmers suffer losses due to insufficient production.

Agriplast offers products such as Ginegar Greenhouse Films, mulch, weed mats, greenhouse accessories, shading solutions, anti-drip clear film, and more to help farmers overcome unfavourable natural threats. All of their products are designed to give crops the best growing conditions possible. Ginegar Greenhouse Polyfilm, for example, has unique mechanical, thermal, and optical properties that protect and enhance crop growth.
A company that has carved out a niche as India’s leading hi-tech domain had humble beginnings. A unit that is now located on a 1,00,000 sq ft owned plot with a covered area of 25,000 sq ft began its life in a garage designed for a small car. Mr. Rajeeb Kumar Roy founded Agriplast in 2004. Mr. Roy began his career in irrigation systems after earning a B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth and an M.Tech in Post-Harvest Technology from IIT Kharagpur. Despite being underpaid (a 3,000 salary), he gave his heart and soul to everything he did.
Mr. Roy’s true calling was never to work in a mundane corporate job. He risked his career by travelling around the world and speaking with farmers from various topographies to better understand their issues and needs. Despite his technical expertise in post-harvest technology, he never shied away from working in the fields to gain a better understanding of what farmers face on a daily basis. Despite limited resources, he took a leap of faith in 2004 by establishing Agriplast Tech India, and the rest is history!
Mr. Roy previously worked as the Director of Marketing (India) at Ginegar Plastic Products Ltd. in Israel. He was successful in making Ginegar a household name in India during his tenure. This association assisted Mr. Roy in obtaining a valuable investment from Ginegar Plastic Products, Israel, in order to build high-quality products without sacrificing quality.
Looking back on his illustrious journey of establishing Agriplast Tech India, Mr. Roy believes that all of the effort and trouble was worth it for the results he sees today. “The knowledge you acquire is real only if you use it to create value,” he says.
