Surat | Gujarat — Reinforcing the message that environmental protection requires collective action, Adani Hazira Port Limited organized a large-scale beach cleanup drive at Suvali Beach to mark the joint observance of World Oceans Day and World Environment Day. The initiative brought together industry leaders, government officials, students and local volunteers in a united effort to preserve the marine ecosystem and promote sustainable environmental practices.
The campaign was conducted in collaboration with the Adani Foundation, Hazira, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, community members and students of Navchetan School, who joined hands to remove plastic waste and other litter from the shoreline.
Leading the drive, Pankaj Uke, CEO of Adani Hazira Port, personally participated in the cleanup activity and encouraged volunteers to take ownership of environmental conservation efforts.
“Protecting our oceans and coastal ecosystems is a shared responsibility. Every small action contributes towards preserving marine biodiversity and ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations,” Uke said while addressing participants.
The event was also attended by Arun Patel, Regional Officer of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Surat, who highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and urged industries and citizens alike to adopt environmentally responsible practices.
“Our commitment to environmental sustainability must go beyond symbolic celebrations. Continuous efforts are necessary to reduce pollution and protect natural resources,” Patel said.
Throughout the campaign, volunteers collected waste materials from the beach while simultaneously spreading awareness among visitors about the dangers of plastic pollution and the importance of protecting marine life.
Officials said the initiative reflects Adani Hazira Port’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. The port administration emphasized that collaborative efforts involving government agencies, educational institutions and local communities are essential for maintaining cleaner coastlines and healthier ecosystems.
