Adani Foundation Hosts Eye Check-up Camps for Hazira Port Workers

Surat : Adani Foundation, in collaboration with the Shri Vallabhbhai Patel Vichar Manch (SVMM), recently organized a series of special eye check-up camps for truck drivers and laborers working at the Adani Hazira port. The initiative, held over four phases last week, underscores Adani’s ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of its workforce.

The camps provided comprehensive eye care services, addressing a range of vision-related issues among the workers. Medical teams diagnosed and treated conditions like cataracts, refractive errors, and other eye ailments, ensuring timely medical interventions that can help prevent accidents and improve overall efficiency.

Among the key treatments offered were cataract surgeries for 28 patients, while 132 workers received corrective eyeglasses to address refractive errors. In addition, 10 patients were treated for pterygium, 7 patients underwent extended retinal examinations, and 2 cases of Posterior Capsule Opacification (PCO) were identified. A total of 181 patients were found to have normal vision.

Notably, those requiring cataract surgery will receive free operations from SVMM, further emphasizing the commitment to long-term eye health care. Early diagnosis of such conditions is crucial for ensuring the safety and productivity of the port’s workforce, as untreated eye problems can lead to work-related accidents and reduced efficiency.

The initiative highlights the importance of regular medical camps in industries that rely heavily on physical labor, ensuring the well-being and safety of the workers.
