BHARUCH : A young Class-One government officer was found dead at his rented residence in Bharuch’s Jhadeshwar area on Sunday, sending shockwaves through his family, colleagues and the local community. Police have launched an investigation after recovering a purported suicide note that reportedly points to severe financial stress.
The deceased, identified as Piyushbhai Ukani, had joined the Planning Department after being transferred to Bharuch just a month ago. He was staying in a rented house in Rameshwar Park Society when the incident came to light after his landlord alerted the C-Division police.
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered a suicide note. Initial findings suggest the officer had been under significant mental strain due to mounting loans and credit card debt. The body was shifted to Bharuch Civil Hospital for postmortem, and family members were informed.
“The officer was originally from Amreli district. He lived alone in Bharuch while his wife was in Surat. The preliminary investigation indicates he died by suicide. Further investigation is underway,” said C-Division Police Inspector N.R. Chaudhary.
Police are continuing to examine all aspects of the case before reaching a final conclusion.
