New Delhi [India]: The Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) Delhi unit nabbed four accused including two Afghan nationals with 50 kilograms of heroin worth over Rs 100 crore from a residential flat in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh on Thursday.

Official sources said the NCB’s Delhi unit seized 50 kilograms of pure heroin, 47 kilogram of suspected narcotics, and Rs 30 lakh drug money in cash and other incriminating material from the residential premises from where the accused were arrested in Shaheen Bagh.

Investigations by the NCB revealed there was well-oiled Indo-Afghan syndication in Delhi for smuggling heroin and other narcotics material. The syndicate had the expertise of adulterating heroin locally. The kingpin of the syndicate is based in Dubai including certain links with Pakistan-based narcotics operatives.

The Indian man arrested along with the two Afghan nationals had taken the house on rent in Delhi where the drugs and cash were kept. The drugs were hidden in the backpacks and jute bags and wrapped in the boxes of the e-commerce companies like Flipkart and others.

NCB officials stated that the origin of the heroin is from Afghanistan and was suspected to be channeled through the hawala system. The Afghan nationals had come for the collection of the money and the delivery of the heroin.

The heroin is smuggled through the maritime route as well as land borders with legitimate goods and cargo. The drug traffickers have links with operatives based in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, and Delhi.
