Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Rivaba Jadeja, the Gujarat minister of state for education and wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, has engaged in a heated exchange with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This confrontation stems from Gandhi’s tweet questioning women’s safety in Gujarat amid rising crime rates and alcohol consumption.

In recent years, the Congress has been making efforts to challenge the government regarding the liquor ban in Gujarat. While Rahul Gandhi has also sought to hold the government accountable on this matter, Rivaba Jadeja has stepped up, taking the initiative to confront the Congress directly.

Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to highlight the escalating concerns surrounding women’s safety in Gujarat, attributing it to rising crime and alcohol consumption. Rivaba has since weighed in on the matter.  The tweet highlights that the national average for crime rates against women stands at 4 percent, whereas Gujarat boasts a significantly lower rate of just 1.48 percent.

Rivaba Jadeja confidently asserted, “Keep in mind… Congress will stay in single digits in the 2027 Gujarat elections.”

Rahul Gandhi took to social media platform ‘X’ to share that during the ongoing Congress Jan Aakrosh Yatra in Gujarat, he has heard from the people, particularly women, about their concerns regarding rising drunkenness, illegal liquor, and crime in the state, which have led to a sense of insecurity in their lives.

Gujarat, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, is steeped in rich history and cultural significance.  In a place once defined by truth, morality, and justice, the future of our youth is now being drawn into the dark realms of drugs and crime.

Rivaba responded to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet.

Rivaba Jadeja, the Minister of State for Education, stated that the crime rate against women in Gujarat stands at just 1.48 percent, significantly lower than the national average of 4 percent.  Gujarat has always been, is currently, and will remain the leading state in ensuring the safety of mothers and sisters.  In the 2027 Gujarat elections, Congress is poised to secure only single-digit seats.

Rivaba stands out as the youngest and wealthiest minister in Gujarat.  Rivaba Jadeja is married to Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder of Team India.  She serves as the BJP MLA representing the Jamnagar North constituency.  She secured the ministerial position in the state government right from her first term.  She holds the position of Minister of State for Education at present.
