SGCCI Holds Key Trade Talks with Indonesia and Ethiopia

SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi said that the meeting held with the Minister Counselor (Economic) of Indonesia was very informative and visionary. During this meeting, bilateral trade relations between South Gujarat including Surat in India and Indonesia, opportunities for export-import and issues of mutual cooperation between the industries of the two countries were discussed in detail.

Surat | Gujarat —  The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) delegation led by its president Nikhil Madrasi held two separate important meetings with the Minister Counsellor (Economic) Embassy of Indonesia- Dadang Hidayat and Ambassador of Ethiopia His Excellency Molaline Asfaw in New Delhi.

SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi said that the meeting held with the Minister Counselor (Economic) of Indonesia was very informative and visionary. During this meeting, bilateral trade relations between South Gujarat including Surat in India and Indonesia, opportunities for export-import and issues of mutual cooperation between the industries of the two countries were discussed in detail.

Especially in South Gujarat including Surat, textile, diamond, gem and jewelry, food processing and small medium enterprises are being developed, important dialogue was held between both sides for mutual cooperation in these sectors.

The 40th Trade Expo will be organized in Indonesia from 15th to 19th October 2025. This international level expo will showcase food and beverages, agriculture, manufacturing products and lifestyle products, hence the Indonesian Minister Councilor requested the Surat entrepreneurs to participate under the auspices of the Chamber. The Chamber President assured him that a business delegation of 30 to 40 entrepreneurs from various sectors of Surat would be sent to the 40th Trade Expo in Indonesia.

In addition, the meeting of the SGCCI’s office bearers with the Ambassador of Ethiopia, His Excellency Molaline Asfaw (Dy. Head of Mission of Ethiopia H.E. Ambassador Molalign Asfaw was also very important. In this meeting, extensive discussions were held on trade with Ethiopia, investment opportunities and mutual cooperation for industries and businesses. The Chamber representatives briefed the Ethiopian Ambassador about various industries of South Gujarat, especially Gem & Jewelry, Technical Textiles and Industrial Development. They also invited him to visit the Chamber of Commerce and various industries in Surat.

Through these two meetings, the SGCCI has made efforts to open new avenues of cooperation at the international level, which will definitely benefit the entrepreneurs and traders of South Gujarat in the future.
