Ahmedabad, Gujarat  – A chilling attempt to derail the high-speed Vande Bharat train in Ahmedabad was thwarted by the extraordinary alertness of its pilot, averting what could have been a catastrophic accident. An unknown individual deliberately placed a 20-foot long iron angle on the railway tracks between Chandlodia and Khodiyar, directly in the path of the premium train. The incident has sent shockwaves through the city and prompted an urgent investigation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police.

Sources indicate that the Vande Bharat train, en route from Veraval to Sabarmati, was approaching the Chandlodia B panel to Khodiyar section when the pilot spotted the massive obstruction. Their quick thinking and immediate action to halt the train prevented a major disaster, sparing potentially hundreds of lives.

“It’s a miracle that the pilot saw it in time,” expressed a railway official, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the ongoing investigation. “This was a clear act of sabotage, designed to cause a serious accident. The iron angle was strategically placed to inflict maximum damage.”

The incident has highlighted the critical role of human vigilance in railway safety, even with advanced train systems. Vande Bharat trains are equipped with modern safety features, including the ‘Kavach’ Train Collision Avoidance System, crashworthy couplers, and robust braking systems. However, a deliberate obstruction of this nature still poses a significant threat.

The Ghatlodia Police have registered a case against an unknown person under relevant sections, and a thorough investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprit behind this audacious act. RPF personnel and local police swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area and gather evidence. Initial assessments confirm that the iron angle was intentionally positioned on the tracks, ruling out an accidental placement.

Railway authorities are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness, as any attempt to tamper with railway tracks carries severe penalties, including potential life imprisonment or even the death penalty under Indian law, especially if it endangers human life.
