Gujarat CM Honors Sardar at Bardoli Swaraj Ashram

Surat, Gujarat –  In a significant prelude to a grand farmers’ conference organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Gujarat Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel visited the hallowed grounds of Swaraj Ashram in Bardoli, the very birthplace of the Iron Man of India on Thursday. His visit served as a poignant reminder of Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle and his deep connection with the nation’s farmers.

Upon his arrival at Swaraj Ashram, Chief Minister Patel paid heartfelt homage, reverently tying thread to the statues of both Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi, symbols of India’s non-violent independence movement. The Chief Minister then proceeded to Sardar Niwas, the residence of Sardar Patel during his time in Bardoli, where he immersed himself in the rich history of the Bardoli Satyagraha.

Engaging with the Ashram’s trustees, Chief Minister Patel gained detailed insights into the epic struggle Sardar Saheb waged for the rights of farmers. He learned how Vallabhbhai Patel earned the revered title of “Sardar” through his astute leadership and unwavering resolve during the Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928, a landmark non-violent protest against unjust land revenue hikes.

“It is truly inspiring to stand on the very soil where Sardar Patel galvanized the farmers and laid the foundation for a stronger, self-reliant India,” stated Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. “His commitment to rural welfare and justice continues to guide our government’s policies, especially as we celebrate his 150th birth anniversary year.”

The Chief Minister meticulously inspected the rooms and memorials within the Swaraj Ashram, where Sardar Saheb conducted various national activities, reflecting on the enduring spirit of patriotism and self-sacrifice. The Ashram administrators expressed their immense happiness at the Chief Minister’s visit during this special anniversary year. Ashram President Bhikhabhai Patel, Vice President Kiritbhai Patel, and Minister Niranjanaben formally honored the Chief Minister with a shawl, also extending their gratitude for the government’s continued support to the Ashram.

The visit saw the presence of several key dignitaries, including Surat MP Mukeshbhai, MLAs Ganpatsinh Vasava, Ishwarbhai Parmar, Sandeepbhai Desai, Mohanbhai, along with Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, District Development Officer Shivani Goyal, and Superintendent of Police Hitesh Joysar. The Chief Minister’s presence underscored the state’s deep respect for Sardar Patel’s legacy and its commitment to upholding the ideals for which he tirelessly worked.
