Ahmedabad : A late-night snack outing turned violent on the first night of Navratri in Ahmedabad’s Thaltej area, where a 16-year-old boy was stabbed during a heated altercation. The incident occurred around 1:30 am near the Rajwadu Tea Stall, close to the Bagban Party Plot, when a brawl broke out between the victim, Krish Bharwad, and a group of unidentified individuals.

According to a complaint filed by Krish’s father, Narayanbhai Bharwad, his son was out with two friends after attending a garba event, a popular cultural activity during Navratri. The trio decided to stop for tea when the unfortunate confrontation unfolded. Krish reportedly bumped into an unidentified man at the tea stall, sparking a verbal exchange.

The argument quickly escalated as the stranger’s friends joined in, hurling abuses and threatening Krish. Tensions heightened further when the group began assaulting him physically. In the midst of the chaos, one of the attackers pulled a knife from his shoe and stabbed the teen multiple times in the chest and on his left hand before fleeing the scene.

Passersby gathered at the spot as the assailants escaped into the night. Krish’s friends immediately called for help, and he was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital, where doctors confirmed that his injuries, though serious, are not life-threatening. Medical staff have reported that Krish is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Speaking on the incident, S M Patel, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for N division, said: “We have launched a thorough investigation into the matter. Our team has already recovered CCTV footage from the crime scene and is working to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible.”

Authorities have yet to make any arrests, but ACP Patel assured that the investigation is progressing rapidly. “We are following several leads and are confident that we will be able to bring those responsible to justice soon,” Patel added.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Thaltej community, especially as it occurred during Navratri, a festival known for its joyous garba celebrations and community gatherings. Local residents have expressed concerns over the increasing number of violent incidents during the festival season, which often attracts large crowds and late-night revelers.

This stabbing is the latest in a series of altercations reported in the city during the festive period. While authorities have increased patrolling and security measures, particularly around garba venues and popular gathering spots, incidents like this have highlighted the need for even tighter measures to ensure public safety.

The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, as they continue to comb through CCTV footage and interview witnesses. In addition, they have appealed for calm in the wake of the attack, assuring the public that the situation is under control.

The Bharwad family remains hopeful that justice will be served, as Krish continues his recovery at the hospital. Narayanbhai, the victim’s father, has expressed his deep concern for his son’s well-being but remains confident in the police investigation. “We just want those responsible to be caught so no other family has to go through this pain,” he said.
