Marwadi University Students Shine at Asmita Khelo India Women’s Weightlifting League

Rajkot: In a brilliant feat in sporting excellence, two students of Marwadi University in Rajkot delivered an outstanding performance at Asmita Khelo India Women’s Weightlifting League recently. The management, faculty members, students and staff at Marwadi University take great pride in congratulating Ms Vidhya Sharma and Ms Aayushi Gajjar, for their brilliant performance at the league held at Modinagar in Uttar Pradesh from September 9-13, 2024.

Ms Vidhya Sharma competed in the 55kg category at the league and secured two gold medals in both the junior and senior categories. Showcasing her perseverance, focus and strength, Vidhya lifted a total of 170 kg weight, with a snatch of 76 kg and a clean and jerk of 94 kg, making her the top contender in the weight class. Her victory not just highlights her dedication and determination but reaffirms her position as one of the finest athletes in the country.

On the other hand, in the 87 kg+ senior category, another student of Marwadi University, Ms Aayushi Gajjar showcased her sharp prowess in weightlifting and bagged the silver medal. She lifted a total of 179 kg, with a snatch of 78 kg and a clean and jerk of 101 kg, securing her place on the podium and bringing great glory to the Gujarat team.

Both athletes have sought admission at Marwadi University under the sports quota. Their achievements have indeed brought laurels to the institution.
