Vadodara :  Amid the ongoing disruptions in train services caused by heavy rains and flooding in the Vadodara Division of Western Railway, several social organisations have stepped up to offer timely assistance to stranded passengers. Train movements have been severely impacted, with numerous trains coming to a standstill at various stations across the division. However, in the face of these challenges, the efforts of local organisations have provided much-needed relief.

According to a press release by Pradeep Sharma, Senior Public Relations Officer of the Vadodara Division, multiple social organisations responded swiftly to a special request from the railway administration. These groups mobilised quickly, arriving at railway stations with food, water, and other essentials for the passengers on halted trains.

At Vadodara station, passengers were provided with poha, tea, and bottled drinking water, thanks to the efforts of Maheshwari Seva Samaj and the Lions Club of Shangri-La Vadodara. Similarly, passengers aboard the Bhavnagar-Bandra train at Anand station received biscuits and water, distributed by the Governor of Rotary Club, Mr. Nihir Dave.

In Ankleshwar, those travelling on the Delhi-Mumbai Duronto, Trivandrum-Veraval, and Secunderabad-Rajkot trains were provided with water and biscuit packets. MLA from Sawli,  Ketan Inamdar, alongside DRUCC member Dr. Parag Pandey and Pratap Nagar Sarpanch Dharmesh Bhai, arranged for drinking water and biscuits at Samalaya station for passengers on the Gorakhpur-Dahanu Road train. At Bharuch station, special arrangements were made for passengers on the Okha-Mumbai Saurashtra Mail, who received biscuits and drinking water.

In addition to these efforts, Jaideep Singh Chauhan, APMC President of Curzon, ensured that lunch packets were distributed to the railway staff working tirelessly at Etola station.

Jeetendra Singh, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Vadodara Mandal, expressed his deep appreciation for the charitable work carried out by these social organizations. He acknowledged their unwavering commitment to public service, particularly in times of emergency, and highlighted their ongoing role in supporting the community. The swift response of these organizations provided critical relief to passengers stranded at various stations, and the Railway Administration extended its heartfelt gratitude for their invaluable assistance during this difficult time.
