Rajkot : A doctor in Rajkot, Gujarat is learnt to have offered Rs 25000 to cover the cost of transferring the patients from Rajkot to Ahmedabad after the surgery went miserably wrong.

This has come weeks after a sensational botched cataract surgery scandal sparked outrage in Mandla. Similar incident occurred at Rajkot Civil Hospital, raising concerns about the quality of medical care and ethical practices.

Within the confines of the medical facility, the patient, Mansur Makwana, had cataract surgery. The process, which typically takes around fifteen minutes, reportedly took an hour and a half to complete, as stated by his account. Following the operation, he was unable to restore his old level of eyesight. In response to his family’s inquiries, the physician provided them with statements that were ambiguous, and they were subsequently advised that they would need more surgery in Ahmedabad.

Makwana’s family insisted that his eyesight be restored locally since they were unable to finance the journey and further treatment that would be required. According to their allegations, the physician made an offer of Rs. 25,000 to them at this time in order to move him to Ahmedabad.

According to Shilpaben Miyatra, Makwana’s daughter, the physician acknowledged to making an error during the operation and originally offered Rs. 1,000 for the further therapy. She also alleges that the doctor apologised for the mistake. Makwana’s family has demanding that the doctor be held accountable and that she get the appropriate medical care.

Dr. Radheshyam Trivedi, the Superintendent of the hospital, recognised that there was a problem that occurred during the operation and determined that the patient needed to be sent to Ahmedabad. On the other hand, he drove home the point that an inquiry committee would conduct an investigation into the alleged bribe offer and will take severe measures if anybody is proven to be culpable.
