India/Seattle: Seattle University and the RoundGlass Foundation have taken a major step towards facilitating international cooperation by announcing the launch of the RoundGlass India Centre. The Centre will act as a conduit between Seattle and India, opening up opportunities for mutual understanding, cooperation, and multidisciplinary research.

To further strengthen the commercial, intellectual, and other linkages between Seattle and India, Seattle University has teamed up with the RoundGlass Foundation. “We will strengthen our relationships with Indian business, government, and academic leaders, and enhance study of India in the United States,” said Eduardo Pealver, President of Seattle University. “Our faculty’s expertise and scholarship, diverse student body, location in a global city, and RoundGlass Foundation’s commitment to education, economic development, sustainable living, and wellness will all contribute to this goal.”

High-level public events will be held in Seattle hosted by the RoundGlass India Centre, bringing together commercial, legal, and government officials from both nations. It will provide scholarships for Indian students to attend Seattle University and help advance India’s economy, the rule of law, and justice, particularly in the state of Punjab.

The RoundGlass India Centre has appointed Sital Kalantry to the position of executive director. Kalantry is the Associate Dean of International Programmes & Graduate Studies and a Professor of Law at Seattle University. The research grants are devoted to a comparative analysis of Indian legal systems.

According to RoundGlass Foundation’s founder, Gurpreet (Sunny) Singh, “we are delighted to partner with Seattle University to focus on developing stronger business ties and academic knowledge on India.” “The RoundGlass India Centre will create opportunities for high-level substantive events on India in Seattle, scholarships for students from India, and will build on Roundglass Foundation’s deep commitment to economic development and rule of law in the State of Punjab,” he said.

It was during the Seattle University Seattle-Setu worldwide conference that the RoundGlass India Centre was officially unveiled. The full-day conference was co-hosted by Seattle University and Greater Seattle Partners, and it brought together business leaders, lawyers, philanthropists and civic leaders, and renowned scholars from India and the United States to foster and deepen ties between the two countries. Keynote speakers were U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, Indian Parliament Member Dr. Sasmit Patra, and U.S. Deputy Assistant Nancy Izzo Jackson.

The event featured an address from The Mayor of Seattle, Bruce Harrell, and a recorded message from Infosys Founder Narayan Murthy.
