Local boy Aayush wins U-17 title; double crown for Ansh

Surat : Surat’s rising paddler and fourth seed Aayush Tanna gave the home crowd a lot to cheer about after his heroic 3-1 victory over top seed Dhyey Jani to capture the boys U-17 title of the Tapti Valley International School 7th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2023 organized by Table Tennis Association of Surat District under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association from September 8 to 10 at Tapti Valley International School, Surat.

This is 15-year-old Aayush’s second U-17 title of the season.

Meanwhile, top seed Jiya Trivedi lived up to top billing as she took home the girls U-15 title after crushing her city mate Khwaish Lotia in straight games

Jiya’s purple run at the Surat meet continued as the 13-year-old got past Surat’s Arnee Parmar 3-1 in the semi-finals to book her berth in the girls U-19 final where she will face fourth seed and another Amdavadi Nidhi Prajapati.

Another Amdavadi on the prowl was Ansh Khamar who captured the double crown by winning the boys U-11 and 13 titles.

In U-11, Ansh defeated Dev Bhatt of Rajkot 11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7 to win all the seven U-11 boys titles of the season.

He doubled up his joy by capturing the boys U-13 title after upsetting top seed Jenil Patel of Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad paddlers’ good run continued as third seed Khanak Shah hard fought to topple top seed and local girl Vincy Tanna 3-2 to walk away with the girls U-11 title.

In the girls U-13 final, top seed Charmy Trivedi of Bhavnagar faced stiff challenge from local girl and seventh seed Vishruti Jadav before sealing the deal 3-2.
