New Delhi : The World Designing Forum (WDF) is preparing for a historic commemoration of the 8th National Handloom Day, an event proclaimed by India’s Prime Minister eight years ago to honour the country’s rich handloom legacy. The World Designing Forum’s historic event is devoted to the innovative concept of “Vocal for Local,” which advocates for the promotion and support of local handicraft. Hon’ble Education Minister Shri. Vishwas Sarang, MSME Principal Secretary Shri. P. Narahari, Principal Secretary Handloom Shri. Manu Srivastava, and other renowned VIP delegations and celebrities will grace the magnificent event. To add to the attraction of the event, leading fashion designers from all across India will be participating and attending, making it the year’s grandest celebration.

National Handloom Day, observed annually on August 7th, is a sincere homage to the expert handloom weavers who have for centuries preserved the craft of hand weaving. The day honours their skill while also promoting sustainable fashion choices and supporting local artists and weavers.

The distinguished participation of Hon’ble Education Minister Shri. Vishwas Sarang at the magnificent festival in Bhopal is recognised for his persistent dedication to promote Indian customs and cultural heritage. His support for the handloom sector has helped to empower weavers throughout the country.

Shri. P. Narahari, Principal Secretary of MSME, and Shri. Manu Srivastava, Principal Secretary Handloom, will be with him. Their joint efforts have significantly aided the development and sustainability of the handloom business. Their attendance at the event demonstrates the government’s commitment to boosting local craftsmen and preserving the survival of traditional crafts.

Various VIP delegations and celebrities will also attend the event, lending their voices to the “Vocal for Local” project and emphasising the need of purchasing locally-made goods.

Furthermore, renowned fashion designers will be in attendance, exhibiting their originality and skills while teaming with professional weavers to produce magnificent handloom outfits. Among the designers attending the event are Anukriti Dixit, Arti Surwade, Bhanu Rajani, Shringarika, Ekta Akhouri, Garima Kulshrestha, Harpreet Kaur, Iti Tandon, Kalpana Jain, Monica, Nausheen, Neena Sharma, Nisha Kapila, Pooja Gupta, Preeti Goswami, Priyanshi Mishra, Rahat Khan, Shefali, Shikha Saxena, Teena Khandait, Uzma Siddiqui, Shalini Sharma, the esteemed IPS Academy and Gayatri Barshi.

The World Designing Forum, together with its prominent visitors and leading fashion designers, is gearing up to make this year’s 8th National Handloom Day a remarkable and resounding success. As the event develops in Bhopal, it serves as a compelling tribute to India’s unique cultural legacy and commitment to preserve traditional crafts while embracing the “Vocal for Local” vision for a self-sufficient and sustainable future.

Among the VIP attendees, celebrities, and industry leaders in attendance are World Designing Forum Founder and CEO Ankush Anami, Directors Srashti Kulshrestha and Pushpendra Singh, and Secretary Sabyasachi Satpathy. Ankush Anami expressed his delight, saying, “National Handloom Day holds immense significance because it not only recognises the efforts of our weavers but also reiterates our commitment to supporting indigenous industries.” WDF is honoured to be a part of this distinguished event and commits to continue campaigning for local artists’ development.”
